Volunteering with the GLPOA

The GLPOA helps preserve Golden Lake and the Bonnechere River for future generations.  We protect and promote water quality and safety, and keep our members informed on key issues year round.

Volunteer now and make a difference…  it’s time to do your part!

When it comes to the cumulative impact of GLPOA’s  Executive, Board of Directors, and scores of dedicated volunteers, past president Kevin O’Connor said it best:

If GLPOA ceased its operations and efforts today, I do not know who or what association or which local government department would take over and assign more than 50 people to do what GLPOA is doing and has done for the past several years  for the benefit of all who live on Golden Lake and Bonnechere River!   Do You ???

There are many ways to volunteer with GLPOA, including serving on the Executive or Board of Directors, canvassing our membership for annual dues, or helping with our various committees. For example, water sampling and recording water levels, catching Rainbow Smelt in the spring, placing shoal markers on the lake and river, helping out with our sponsored events like the annual Smelt Fry and the Poker Run, are some areas where we are always looking for additional help.

If you are interested in helping in any capacity, please send an email to glpoainfo@gmail.com , and we will contact you with further information.

Need to perform volunteer hours to graduate high school?

If you or someone you know needs to perform some volunteer hours to meet high school graduation requirements, we may be able to help!  We often need casual volunteers at events like our Smelt Fry, or the Poker Run, which would be ideal for teenagers, or there’s our Junior Lake Steward program.  To find out what is available, please email Theresa Rasp for more information and to sign up.
